معرفی صفات برتر یا عالی (Superlatives) است — یعنی وقتی می‌خواهیم بگوییم چیزی از همه بزرگ‌تر، کوچک‌تر، یا زیباتر است.

We use superlative adjectives to talk about extremes, such as the biggest, the tallest, or the most beautiful.

Superlatives show that one thing is the most (or least) among a group.

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.

This is the most delicious cake I’ve ever eaten.

🟩 SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES

(صفات عالی)

For most adjectives with one or two syllables, add “-est” to make the superlative.

Always use the definite article “the” before the adjective.

tall → the tallest

small → the smallest

fast → the fastest

💡 The comparative compares two things (e.g. bigger than),

while the superlative shows which is the most extreme (e.g. the biggest).

My car is fast.

Your car is faster than mine.

But Tom’s car is the fastest.

🟩 FORMING SUPERLATIVES

There are special spelling rules depending on the ending of the adjective:

1️⃣ Adjectives ending in -e

Add only “-st.”

large → the largest

nice → the nicest

2️⃣ Adjectives ending in -y

Change y to i and add “-est.”

happy → the happiest

easy → the easiest

3️⃣ One-syllable adjectives ending with a consonant-vowel-consonant pattern (CVC)

Double the final consonant and add “-est.”

big → the biggest
