بیایید با یک اشتباه بسیار رایج شروع کنیم: نشستن پشت میز!

اشتباه رایج این است که بگوییم: "The bank manager was sitting on his desk."

اما درست آن این است: "The bank manager was sitting at his desk."

حالا برویم سراغ فعل Spend به معنی "صرف کردن" (وقت یا پول).

نگویید: "I spend a lot of time for my computer."

درست آن: "I spend a lot of time on my computer."

کلمه بعدی Succeed به معنی "موفق شدن" است.

اشتباه نکنید و نگویید: "I hope he'll succeed at his work."

درست آن: "I hope he'll succeed in his work."

برسیم به کلمه Superior به معنی "برتر".

نگویید: "This is superior from (or than) that."

درست آن: "This is superior to that."

کلمه بعدی Sure به معنی "مطمئن" است.

اشتباه رایج: "I'm quite sure for her honesty."

درست آن: "I'm quite sure of her honesty."

برسیم به کلمه Surprised به معنی "شگفت‌زده".

نگویید: "Harold was surprised for the loud bang."

درست آن: "Harold was surprised at (or by) the loud bang."

برسیم به فعل Suspect به معنی "مشکوک بودن".

اشتباه رایج: "I suspect Kate for stealing the pen."

درست آن: "I suspect Kate of stealing the pen."

فعل Take به معنی "گرفتن".

نگویید: "Robert took his brother from the hand."

درست آن: "Robert took his brother by the hand."

فعل بعدی Tie به معنی "بستن" است.

اشتباه نکنید و نگویید: "The girl tied the string on the kite."

درست آن: "The girl tied the string to the kite."

و آخرین مورد امروز، کلمه Tired به معنی "خسته".

نگویید: "The boys are tired from eating boiled eggs."
