درس پنجم

 با کلمه Indifferent شروع کنیم. این کلمه به معنی "بی‌تفاوت" است.

اشتباه رایج این است که بگوییم: "They're indifferent for politics."

اما درست آن این است: "They're indifferent to politics."

حالا برویم سراغ فعل Insist به معنی "اصرار کردن".

نگویید: "He always insisted to his opinion."

درست آن: "He always insisted on his opinion."

کلمه بعدی Interested به معنی "علاقه‌مند" است.

اشتباه نکنید و نگویید: "She's not interested for her work."

درست آن: "She's not interested in her work."

کلمه Jealous به معنی "حسود".

نگویید: "He's very jealous from his brother."

درست آن: "He's very jealous of his brother."

فعل Leave به معنی "ترک کردن" یا "عازم شدن".

اشتباه بسیار رایج: "They're leaving to England soon."

درست آن: "They're leaving for England soon."

کلمه بعدی فعل Live است.

نگویید: "He lives from his brother's money."

درست آن: "He lives on his brother's money."

فعل Look که یکی از پرکاربردترین افعال است و حروف اضافه‌اش دنیایی از معانی را ایجاد می‌کند!

اول از همه، اشتباه رایج: "Look to this beautiful picture."

درست آن: "Look at this beautiful picture."

اما دقت کنید! Look با حروف اضافه دیگر معانی کاملاً متفاوتی می‌دهد:

Look after یعنی مراقبت کردن.

Look for یعنی جستجو کردن.

Look into یعنی بررسی دقیق کردن.

Look down on یعنی با دید تحقیر نگاه کردن.

Look up to یعنی احترام گذاشتن.

Look forward to یعنی بی‌صبرانه منتظر بودن.

و Look to یعنی تکیه کردن.

کلمه بعدی Married به معنی "متأهل".

اشتباه نکنید و نگویید: "Angela was married with a rich man."

درست آن: "Angela was married to a rich man."

برسیم به کلمه Opposite به معنی "روبرو".

نگویید: "Their house is opposite from ours."

درست آن: "Their house is opposite to ours."
