When you talk about what you do in your free time, you often use adverbs of frequency — words that show how often you do something.

They help make your sentences more natural and detailed.

Here are the most common adverbs of frequency and what they mean:

always 100% of the time I always get up early. 🌅

usually about 80–90% She usually drinks coffee in the morning. ☕

often about 70% We often go to the park. 🌳

sometimes about 50% He sometimes watches TV after dinner. 📺

occasionally about 30% I occasionally eat fast food. 🍔

rarely about 10% They rarely go out on weekdays. 🏠

never 0% I never eat meat. 🥦

🟩 USING ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

You normally put adverbs of frequency between the subject and the main verb.

✅ Subject + adverb + verb

I always take the bus.

She usually studies in the evening.

We often visit our grandparents.

They never eat breakfast late.

🔹 With the verb “to be”

Adverbs go after the verb “to be.”

✅ Subject + to be + adverb

I am always tired in the morning.

He is usually at work at 9 o’clock.

We are never late for school.
