When this video was recorded, the Pooled Cohort Equations (PCE) were used to estimate 10-year ASCVD risk. Our patient’s calculated risk was 21%, supporting high-intensity statin therapy.

Today, using the PREVENT equations, his estimated 10-year risk is 12%, a different number and a different risk framework, but the same clinical conclusion: high-intensity statin therapy is indicated.
